Seller Note

This 1955 Chevrolet 210 Del Ray two-door sedan has been in the same family since new. It is an original southern California “black plate” car that was assembled in Los Angeles and has remained in SoCal. The car has been kept in largely untouched shape save for a repaint in 1975 and a recovered front seat, “It is in excellent condition and could go into a history museum tomorrow.” the engine is the original 265-cu.in. V-8 installed on the assembly line and had the rings and bearings replaced in the late Seventies. The seller says the engine “runs like a clock.” Regarding cold starts, the engine “starts easily” with no smoke. He notes a very small oil drip from the engine. The original Powerglide two-speed transmission was serviced in 2018 and is said to “shift very well.” The car has a newer radiator and the engine features the Carter four-barrel carburetor, larger air cleaner, and dual exhaust system of the "Super Turbo-Fire," aka "Power Pack" engine upgrade that was rated at 180 horsepower when new. The firewall trim tag specifies 617 as the paint code, which translates to India Ivory over Gypsy Red and those are the colors that appear to still be on the car, which was repainted in 1975. The original paint appears to remain on the doorjambs, firewall, wheels, and inside the trunk. Cone Chevrolet painted the car using original formulas and colors. The car has never been stored outside, has no rust, and the glass is free of cracks or chips. The interior upholstery is the original black and white Del Ray-style vinyl (trim tag code 508). The front seat was re-covered in the late Seventies, but the back seat and door panels are reported as original. The carpet has been replaced and the headliner doesn’t sag.
